Vin Diesel Lays Waste To This Summer’s Blockbusters
Or that’s what the marketing people for his latest Babylon AD want us to believe. Still, it’s a mild distraction. Remember when Vin Diesel actually had potential? Pitch Black and The Boiler Room both came out in 2000 and showed serious promise. Then he did a string of shit, The Fast and The Furious, A Man Apart. We don’t blame him for ‘The Chronicles of Riddick’ but the The Pacifier!? Come on! And now he’s doing a third Fast and Furious sequel.
But maybe we’re being a bit too cynical, maybe Babylon AD will be good. It's directed by Mathieu Kassovitz who is capable of both the bruised brilliance of La Haine and the downright silly Gothika. Diesel has also made the movie into directing in an attempt to resurrect his career. He has directed himself in an epic action film ‘Hannibal The Conqueror’. No, it’s not the Anthony Hopkins Hannibal, it’s the riding an army of elephants over the Alps Hannibal.
Hmmm, maybe this could be a turnabout… Remember, you heard it first here folks, Vin Diesel is cool again (pity they’ve already cast the new Terminator. Did anyone think to call his agent?)
