Christian Bale Is A...Well He's A Hollywood Star

People are sending this audio around the net like it's incredibly shocking and surprising. Don't get us wrong, when someone manages to cram 37 'fucks' into a 3-minute & 45-second rant, it's pretty impressive and when that someone is a respected, talented and largely likable actor, it's worth raising an eyebrow. But why should we be shocked? Hollywood stars are honey nut loop jobs. They spend their whole life being pampered and are treated like they are the most important people on the set, God's gift to the film world. And yet we are surprised when they act like it. It's our fault. Or at least the fault of the Hollywood system.

Look, actors are a very touchy breed. They are very precious about their art and think it takes precedence over everybody else's work on set (and maybe it does - and maybe the DOP was completely out of line - who knows) but Hollywood takes the volatile tendencies of actors and indulges and encourages them and then we all vilify them when they have the nerve to act exactly like we treat them.
