Peter Weir is on ‘The Way Back’

It’s such a relief to know that there is another Peter Weir film on the horizon. We’ve loved almost everything of his from the sublime and eerie ‘Picnic at Hanging Rock’ to the rambunctious boy’s adventure ‘Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World’. And now he’s on the way back with ‘The Way Back’ (puntastic), which will be written and directed by Weir and is a true- life story about a group of soldiers who attempt to escape from a Gulag during World War 2. It will star Colin Farrell, Ed Harris, Jim Sturgess and (isn’t she doing well for herself) Saoirse Ronan.

So, we're really excited about this one but not everyone in the world is looking forward to another Peter Weir film; above is a clip from an interview with Austrailian writer Bob Ellis who doesn't quite share our love Peter Weir, the films or the man. Take a happy pill Mr. Ellis and stop being such a grumpy homophobe.
