Hurt Locker Trailer

Hard to know what to make of the trailer for The Hurt Locker, On one hand, we've heard good things on the grapevine from festival screenings and it looks like it's getting down and dirty with some gritty realism. It's also one of the first Iraq war films to concentrate solely on the the grunts on the ground in action.

On the other hand, it's yet another Iraq war movie and there have been very few success stories from this subgenre in recent years. It all looks a little OTT with at least 5 major explosions in the trailer alone. The nu-metal soundtrack sounds horrendous and makes it feel like a big dumb action movie. And it's directed by Kathryn Bigelow who we have all the time in the world for but who isn't known for her subtle nuanced approach. We love Point Break and Strange Days but they don't exactly hold back. Who knows maybe that approach could be a good thing.

And God knows that the fuck that title means.
