Box Office News - Bond Breaks records etc etc.

In news that will come as a surprise to people who are learning disabled, Bond topped the U.S Box Office with an opening weekend of $70.4 million making it the biggest opening ever for a Bond movie and the biggest opening ever for a spy movie, even beating Bourne to that accolade (even if Bourne movies currently laugh in the face of Bond movies. Bond is like some older brother who is on the dole and begging his more successful younger brother for a job then making a mint from his new job and taking all the credit...or something along those lines).

We'll see what sort of legs Quantum of Solace has in the long term given than the critical and public reception has been mixed. In other news, low budget R-rated comedies had impressive hold-overs with Role Models becoming a bona fide hit for Paul Rudd (about time) with a current total of $38 million and Zack & Miri Make A Porno hitting $26 million after a worryingly slow start, leaving it on course to become Kevin Smith's biggest movie to date.

Other notable figures come from High School Musical3 which looks like it won't stumble over the $100 million mark. It seems it isn't the giant cash cow that some suspected and is only a cash calf. Although, given it's modest budget the returns are still huge and the international gross will be massive as well so there is still little chance that we will spared College Musical or whatever contrived sequel idea they can come up with.
