De Niro and Scorsese Back Together Again

How many of you saw ‘Righteous Kill’? And how many of you thought that it was the biggest waste of two of the greatest actors of their generation? Of course, they haven’t been in anything good for nearly a decade but it made us curious, would De Niro still be crap if he was in a film directed by Scorsese now? And we’re going to get our answer, Steve Zaillian (‘American Gangster’, ‘Gangs of New York’, ‘Jack the Bear’) is adapting ‘I Heard You Paint Houses’ the book about a mafia hitman who is assumed to be involved in the assassination of Teamster Boss Jimmy Hoffa.

With Scorsese attached to direct, this could be exciting. Of course it’s familiar territory for both these artists but what would be interesting is to see how their perspective on the world of organized crime has changed with age. We’ve already bought our tickets.
