We Say Maybe to Yes Man Trailer
Jim Carrey needs a hit right about now. Though he has impressed as a genuine actor in recent years he hasn't had a genuine smash hit (sold on his name) since Bruce Almighty in 2003. Fun With Dick & Jane and The Number 23 were particular duds. So what's the obvious thing to do? Revisit past glories of course.
He had a big hit with a movie in which he was unable to lie. So now he's gunning for a hit with a movie in which he is unable to say no. Of course that's a simplistic analysis. This movie is based on a book by renowned social experimenter Danny Wallace who a memoir about his experiences of saying yes to everything for a year. This Hollywood adaptation seems to bare very little resemblance to Wallace's book but at least it doesn't appear to be a kids movie in which some supernatural wish compels Carrey to say yes to everything. It seems and grounded in reality and a little more adult. It does look rather broad and silly but then, when Carrey nails broad and silly, nobody can touch him. We're sure it will have a face-meltingly sentimental ending but if it's funny enough along the way, we'll give it a pass.
