Deleted Scenes Are Now Marketing Tools

See more Will Ferrell videos at Funny or Die

So it seems the latest technique of online promotion FOR upcoming films is releasing deleted scenes before the movie comes out. Who needs to wait for the DVD or even for the cinema release? Just watch the bits that weren't good enough for the movie as a gauge of how good the movie MIGHT be.

Of course it helps when the movie is semi-improvised leaving you with about 600 hours of deleted scenes and discarded material. This is obviously the case with Step Brothers which comes from the McKay/Apatow stable of crazy improvised comedy. If this deleted scene is to be the barometer of how good the movie will be then we can safely say that Step Brothers will be...eh...mildly amusing.

Hopefully this has been discarded because it falls significantly short of the standard of the rest of the movie.
