Early reports are stating that 62-year-old Stan Winston has died with no word yet on cause of death.
Stan Winston was not just an effect artist, he is one the single most important creative people working in Hollywood today. His work includes some of the most iconic and beautiful cinematic creations of our generation. How many of you couldn’t sleep after watching the Terminator do surgery on his own eye; or being blown away by the Queen Alien in James Cameron’s ‘Aliens’; or being in awe of the dinosaurs in ‘Jurassic Park’? Only this summer we can see his craftsmanship in the elegant beauty of Ironman’s suit. Of course no-one can forget the ‘Predator’, which was a last minute design by Winston which came to him after a dream on a flight from film's set which he was sure he was going to fired from. The list goes on.
Winner of 4 Oscars for his work on ‘Aliens’, ‘Jurrasic Park’ and two awards for 'Terminator 2’ he has left us too early and will be sadly missed.
