The Empire Backslapping Awards: The Results

Here's the list of winners from the Empire magazine awards. A few thoughts: What's with the addition of so many genre awards? Why not have Western/Musical/Ganster/Drama awards if you're creating categories. Where does that logically stop? In a few years are we gonna have Best Supernatural/Psychological Thriller? Or Best Slapstick Comedy?
And what's with so many categories for unnecessary back-slapping? Is it to get big names to attend? Empire Icon! Empire Inspiration Award! Are they picking words out of a thesauras?
Surely there was a better Sci-fi film that Stardust, a beter horror than 28 weeks Later and a better thriller than American Ganster (which probably wasn't even a thriller). Of course there was significant British involvement in all three, which brings us back to the uneccessary backs-lapping.
Also, Is it just me or is James McAvoy wearing make-up these days? Jesus Dude!
