Observe & Report Trailer - How Did We Miss This?

Well this kind of slipped under our radar. We like to keep a close eye on anything that Seth Rogen is up to, mainly because he's one of the coolest guys in Hollywood and manages to be funny even in average movies. So how did we not hear about this little doozer of a movie? We weren't even aware it was in production until this NSFW trailer came along.

It's written and directed by Jody Hill, the man behind cult hit The Foot Fist Way, the film that brought Danny McBride to the attention of Hollywood and led to him taking on scene-stealing duties in Tropic Thunder and crucially Pineapple Express. As we know, Rogen likes to keep in the family (so to speak) and it now seems that McBride and Hill are part of that family, leading to this foul-mouthed and really interesting looking comedy.

Why is it so interesting? Well because not only does it look funny, it also looks a little bit edgy, dirty, grimy and downbeat in tone. Broad comedy with a real indie spirit. Will it deliver on this promise? We don't know but we like what we see.

We should also point out that the basic premise isn't unlike Paul Blart: Mall Cop the horrifically awful hit American comedy that will hopefully bomb when it comes to Europe. This looks a lot like that except less shit.

If only more movies took that simple approach. Here's my pitch for a new movie. It's Rachel Getting Married meets Bride Wars except good.
