Return Of The Trailer Voice

We miss trailers like this one for Sundance buzz movie 500 Days of Summer. At some point in the last decade, the trailer voice became passé and fell out of use (we blame the trailer for Jerry Seinfeld's Comedian). The only time we see it these days is in comedy trailers that start out pretending to be serious and then do the old bait-and-switch. Here, the trailer voice is brought back in all it's glory, a bold and unusual move for a cooler-than-thou indie. Only difference is now he's sounding suspiciously like Morgan Freeman, who we all know is the ubiquitous narrator voice. Either way, throw in some cool music, a general montage of enticing clips, two reliably quirky actors and this trailer does enough to seem like we have the makings of a breakout indie hit. Count us in.
