‘9’ Trailer
Here’s a Monday morning treat to help crush those insolent ‘January Blues’. Written and directed by first time feature director, Shane Acker, ‘9’ is a story set in a post-apocalyptic world where rag dolls run around picking up scraps for some reason or other. To be frank, the trailer let us down; any scorched world setting that doesn’t feature Tina Turner sporting a Mohawk and HUGE shoulder pads is just trying to cut hair without a pair of scissors or sharp hunting knife.
But if you do like the look of the trailer and want to see more, below is the short film written and directed by Shane Acker which, very obviously, the film is based. Aesthetically speaking, it’s very pretty but the story and characterisation don't touch you the way Pixar does (see you in court for touching us Pixar).
Pamela Pettler, who wrote Monster House (which we liked) and Corpse Bride (which we didn’t) is credited as a writer and she has been building a feature film career of coming onto animation projects late in the game and re-writing the hell out of them. Happy Monday!
