Akira - The American Version

As we reported before, Irish director Ruairi Robinson is to direct the upcoming Hollywood live action adaptation of the breakout Japanese manga movie Akira. Robinson was Oscar nominated for his animated short 50 Percent Grey and made the stylish Silent City, so here's hoping he won't make a sanitised piece of Hollywood horse poo.

Someone clearly fears he will and so has taken the time to animate this imagined version of American Akira. It's short and sweet but hopefully not prophetic. A bit like Tom Cruise (except for being sweet).Ah who are we kidding? Who could resist that sweet little smile of his?
