Clint Eastwood's Latest Has A Trailer

It's a testament to Clint Eastwood's output in the last few years that we are billing this trailer using his name alone. The name has become a stamp of quality over the last few years and has buried memories of Space Cowboys and Blood Work. Oh how we have tried to suppress them. His latest is called Gran Torino and comes hot on the heels of The Changeling which hasn't even been released yet. Some output for a man who looks like he should be holding up the que as he hobbles on to a bus before sheepishly flashing his bus pass only to sit beside some poor kid (who has to hold his nose from the smell) before taking out a brown paper bag and offering the kid a sweetie that he's too polite not to take.

In fact, in this movie he plays a character that isn't a million miles (or years) away from our bus pensioner...with a little casual racism thrown in for good measure. Hell, he even utters the immortal words; 'get off my lawn'. This one looks pretty dark, brooding, edgy and topical even if Eastwood's gravelly movie-star speak is a little OTT. It seems like the old man's got something to say. Let's hope it's not some right-wing reactionary condemnation of ethnic gangs, or an old man's revenge fantasy, as seems entirely possible from the trailer. Clint is a registered Republican after all.

Although, it must be said, many feared/hoped Flags Of Our Fathers would be a flag waving (literally) patriotic riposte to Hollywood's 'pink lefty' anti-war output and it turned out to be a much more balanced, nuanced piece so once again, in Eastwood we trust.
