Ben Stiller is in talks to direct a new movie called The Chicago 7 and bizarrely, it's not a parody of crime fighting team movies or any sort of comedy at all. Yes it's a real live serious movie from Dreamworks about riots at the 1968 Democratic convention and the aftermath.
Steven Spielberg Paul Greengrass have previously been attached to direct this and it's written by Aaron Sorkin so already you should be getting a picture of the kind of movie we're talking about. Let's just say it doesn't involve Blue Steel, Walk-offs or David Bowie.
We're intrigued to see how Stiller can adapt to the challenge, kind of like how it's intriguing to see how a cow adapts when you lower it into a lion's cage at the zoo. Fascinating stuff. Trust us.
The talks with Dreamworks are apparently at a very early stage, the movie is on a shortlist of films that Dreamworks inherited from the breakaway from Paramount and wishes to get into production as quickly as possible. So we’d expect confirmation one way or the other soon.
