Night Shyamalan get hired in at great expense to bring their vision to a brand and end up making completely bonkers ads that no upstart director would ever get away with. The David Lynch ad for Playstation 2 might only come in at number 10 here but it would top a list of most left-field, non-sensical and downright barmy ads to ever appear on television.

You can imagine the pitch meeting:
Exec 1: So what you're saying David is that the guy emerges from a cloud to be faced by himself, a mummy and a business man with a duck's head for a face. And the duck says 'welcome to the third place'
Lynch: Yeah, pretty much.
Exec 2: And what's this got to do with Playstation?
Lynch: It's got your tagline in at the end doesn't it.
Exec 2: Oh yeah, good point.
Exec 1: But it makes no sense.
