Box Office News - Mike Myer's Mojo is Gone

The box office numbers are in:

1. Get Smart, $39.2M
2. Kung Fu Panda, $21.7M
3. The Incredible Hulk, $21.6M
4. The Love Guru, $14M
5. The Happening, $10M

So Get Smart has opened very strongly for a comedy and comes in as the 2nd largest opening for a TV comedy adaptation behind Sex and The City. It's also Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway's biggest ever opening.

In other news, it seems critics might actually make a difference. Either that or Mike Myer's has lost his mojo since Austin Powers. To explain: Last week The Happening opened well despite universally bad reviews. This week Mike Myer's latest The Lover Guru disappointed and opened in 4th. The publicity was widespread and Myer's vehicles generally open strongly so it seems that this week, the critics might have won. The Love Guru received an embarrassing 23 out of 100 on metacritic and seems to be a punching bag for critics.

So the critics have levelled the score this week after The Happening last week.
