Could Spiderman 4 AND 5 Be Good?
The boys and girls over at Cinematical just scored a Scoop on the future of the Spiderman franchise this evening. It looks as though James Vanderbilt, writer of the excellent ‘Zodiac’, has handed in a ‘Spiderman’ script to Sony which encompasses two films. Provisional indication is that both ‘Spiderman 4’ and ‘5’ will be shot back to back.
The rushed ‘Spiderman 3’ left fans and critics alike with a sour taste in their mouth. Also, presumably, without Sam Raimi directing or Tobey Maguire playing the old webslinger Sony were going to have a tough time winning fans back onto the franchise. This move could indicate that they are approaching the material from the right perspective, by getting a good screenwriter to write film without the ticking clock of a summer release date.
Fingers crossed that they don’t fuck it up.
