A lot of cool stuff there. New movies from Clint, Atom Egoyan, The Dardenne Brothers and Wim Wenders (who we still get excited about despite his often rubbish output of recent times - dude made Paris Texas which is enough for us). Woody Allen's got a new one showing out of competition, which doesn't mean much these days. His output is averaging about 1 good film in every 5 these days, though we got an early sneak-peak at Cassandras Dream starring Colin Farrell and it's not bad at all.

2 movies top our pants-wetting list though. Charlie Kaufman's debut as a director Synecdoche, New York which stars Philip Seymour Hoffman as a theatre director attempting to finish his masterpiece and Che Steven Soderbergh's biopic of Che Guevara starring the perfectly cast Benicio Del Toro. He is releasing the film in two parts so it's unclear whether Cannes will see both.

At the final analysis, fuck Cannes. Loads of rich people sunning themselves. And we don't get an invite. They'll be sorry!
